As my term as president of the SUNY Oneonta Alumni Association ends, I finish it the way I started — feeling grateful and honored to have served you.

Like many of you, I can remember the moment I fell in love with SUNY Oneonta. That moment and the many amazing experiences that followed changed my life. As a first-generation college graduate, I vowed that I would always pay my opportunity forward however I could. After years of being an engaged alumna, I had the opportunity to become president of the Alumni Association. I embraced this chance to serve as another way to return the gift I had been given.

Now, as my term concludes, I want to share my gratitude for all we have achieved together. Of our countless accomplishments, I am most proud of our increased use of digital platforms to stay connected with alumni; the establishment of the Association’s Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access Task Force; the creation of the Alumni Association’s Statement on Diversity; being part of the most successful comprehensive campaign in the College’s history, Grow. Thrive. Live.; and the growth in programs that provide networking opportunities for students and alumni. However, the most rewarding part of being Alumni Association president was connecting with our vast network of extremely talented and successful alumni.

This is not the end of the road for me; I’ll continue to serve on committees, volunteer, participate in alumni events, and support our College in any way I can. It is my honor to transition the presidency to Drew McKay ’05, our Alumni Association president-elect. His pride, energy, and leadership will guide us through the next two years. With his guidance, we’ll build on our momentum to strengthen connections with each other and with our alma mater.

The Alumni Association is your lifelong connection to SUNY Oneonta. I invite you to stay engaged and explore ways to volunteer.
